Coraline..

OK this 'Coraline' craze is going around everywhere and for obvious reasons.. ,

First of all the movie itself looks pretty cool... it is an animated fairytale-horror film based on the book by Neil Gaiman.

It has been in the making for the last 3 years by 351 animators, puppet fabricators and artisans. One of the awesome aspects of the movie is that everything you see in the movie has been 'hand-made' by these people, to create what is sure to be a pretty amazing movie... and of course never the less it was directed by Henry Selick, who is responsible for The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach...

Another brilliant aspect of the creators of this film has got to be the marketing strategy...

first of all the website for the movie is super cool and you can spend hours and hours poking around and learning about the movie with clues that are given here and there ..
the other and most impressive marketing strategy have to be infamous '50 coraline boxes'

50 mystery boxes have been mailed to 50 different websites and blogs throughout the world... the amazing thing is that they are not your typical movie posters or simple movie paraphernalia they are actual wooden boxes filled with props like the ones used in the movie and mystery clues about the movie.. They are more than just campaign objects.. but actual pieces of art.. simply awesome

here are some of the boxes sent to the likes of More Everything and Stainless Steel Droppings (blogs)..

and here is the movie trailer

Cast includes Dekota Fanning as Coraline and Teri Hatcher as the Mother and "other mother"

check out the Coraline website
